Allaire Civil War School for a Soldier Reenactment and Encampment – Authors’ Tent

Saturday and Sunday, June 2nd & 3rd 2012
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Join us in this returning event! The Historic Village at Allaire time travels for its Annual Civil War Encampment! New Jersey Union regiments camp out in our show fields. Discover the Civil War at Allaire! Meet Union soldiers, shop at period stores, and experience encampment life! This event will be a non-combatant Civil War living history presentation of a Training Camp for new recruits in New Jersey service. Throughout the day witness speeches, artillery demonstrations, battalion drills, musket cleaning, dress parades, and a farewell at the train station as troops leave for the front! The event will be open to the public. This event is presented by the New Jersey Civil War Heritage Association (NJCWHA) and The Historic Village at Allaire. There will be a $5 parking fee for this event.

The Carriage House Poetry Series

The Arts Center faces Watson Road in Fanwood, NJ; however, it is part of the Fanwood Borough Hall property and the actual address is 75 North Martine Avenue, Fanwood, NJ 07023 (which you might need for MapQuest or navigation systems). Just be sure to go to Watson Road from Martine Avenue. Parking is available in front of the Arts Center and across the street by Carriage House Park. There is also on-street parking. If parking is an issue, you may park in the Borough Hall parking lot (access via Martine Avenue).

Macculloch Hall Historical Museum collaborates with the New Jersey Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee in mounting a major exhibit: “Gone for a Soldier:” Jerseymen in the Civil War, to run from November 6, 2011 to July 1, 2012 on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The two organizations are using their expertise and connections to private and institutional collections to bring together an unprecedented amount of memorabilia chronicling the experience of New Jersey and her soldiers in the Civil War. The museum will offer lectures, book signings, and public programs to complement and enhance this major exhibit throughout the year.  An exhibition catalogue will be available. Look for program announcements and updates on the museum’s website and Facebook page.     I am on the Board at the Vineland Historical Society and want you to know that I was finally able to get your information posted on our new website. I took the liberty of also posting your book and a link to this site… a la internet!
