Today, I was able to present my book, Private Hercules McGraw: Poems of the American Civil War, to a small, but enthusiastic hometown crowd. Members of Vernon, New Jersey’s historical society well received my poetry. Better yet, they asked questions about the book – its construction and the history it presents. A fine discussion ensued.
Thanks, Vernon.
By the way, the guy in the photo…it’s me.

Congratulations.
Thanks, John. It was fun. All the best.
Nice that you had a good turnout. It is a good feeling to be appreciated
It is indeed. I have more readings this fall. Hope they go well too.
Hey, that’s great!!! It stirs me up to try to do some more of these myself. That’s one of the best things about connecting with people via the blogs. Inspiration and creativity in one stirs the same in others. I’ve always realized that spending time and interacting with other creative people stirs the creativity in me even more and pulls it to the surface — often helping me discover aspects of it that I didn’t even know were in there. But I hadn’t realized, until the blogging began, that interacting via words on the screen could do the same thing. That aspect of using the tools of cyberspace has been the greatest blessing to me of anything. And I am so grateful for it.
Many more readings to come. My book just revived a great review too. I will post it here soon.
